A Midsummer's Wedding
On Saturday, July 29, 2017 at four o’clock in the afternoon, Steven and Sean were married at Three Saints Parks in Bethany, Connecticut. It was a midsummer’s wedding in the trees, which flowed freely from ceremony to celebration. Our guests were invited to choose their own paths of adventure and enjoyment: having a cocktail when the time feels right, playing a lawn game, strolling around the lake, posing for photo-ops, grazing the harvest table appetizers, feasting on fresh grilled foods, which were continuously replenished throughout the affair, and of course dancing the night away. Most imperative was this request: be cheerful and embrace the merriment!
As for attire, guests were encouraged to dress in dapper, yet comfortable, clothing. The vibe of the event pulled references from mid-late 19th and early 20th century authors, such as Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, and CS Lewis. Mixing the modern with the classic, our wedding freed our guests from the mundane to a land of happily ever after ("Please, Sir, I want some more"). It’s as if everyone wandered through the woods and stumbled upon a Tea Party ("We're all mad here"), or opened the back of a wardrobe and discovered a forest fairy land, ("This is going to be a Wonderful place"), or arose from a slumber on the grass nearby mystical revelers ("Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind").
Throughout the wedding, we invited our guests to live into this mantra: celebrate love, spread happiness, exude positive energy, and have fun!
